3 stage smart converters

Has anyone installed a 3 stage smart converter? I have seen some videos on them and it seems that they keep the battery better for longer with a completely full charge. I was considering installing one b4 i install a dual 6volt (golf cart) battery setup. Good? Bad? Any insite would be appreciated.
