Toilet fills with water when not in use

Alexis and I just got back from a camping trip where we had a problem with the toilet in our TAB fill with water. After flushing and completely emptying the toilet, we would check on it and it would have water in it after a few hours. We could see a small stream come from the water outlet that is used to fill the toilet with water to flush. Any ideas on how I can fix this myself or do I have to take it into the dealer we bought it from. We have a month left on the 1 year warranty.

You have a defective water control valve on your toilet.  Your dealer should be able to replace it for you, under warranty. Here’s how mine was diagnosed and repaired. http://tab-rv.vanillaforums.com/discussion/3901/toilet-issue/p1

Thanks @Verna for the quick reply. It doesn't look like something I would like to tackle myself.

It is definitely the water control valve. The last time I had the problem. I installed a water shut off valve where the water line comes through the wall. That way in the future I can shut off the water to the toilet with out going outside. Just like any residential toilet.

Dale, I don’t have our Tab to look at this.  Is the hose visible with the factory installation of the toilet?  Do you need to pull the toilet to add the shut off?

@SAM, mine is located in the same place—next to the shared wall with the kitchen cabinets, or in your case, the non-inside kitchen wall ;)

Verna, I guess you must have had the hose before your repair.  How else would you receive fresh water!
