T@B 2006 DM clamshell

When I bought this used clamshell, the owners complained about the clamshell being so heavy and had a board to hold it up. I have tried to re-install struts. The door is very heavy to lift and awkward for one person to then put in a board to hold it up. Doesn't look good for T@Bs to have such a make-shift arrangement. So far, little success. 80# struts don't hold the shell up. 150# tear out of the sidewalls and bend the little brackets. Do any of you have a similar model and can tell me what weight of struts you have? I am wondering if there are 100 or 120 lb struts.

Here’s the url for a Yahoo! Teardrop group we’ve been told have members with Dutchman Tabs. The construction of the pre-2010 Tabs was significantly different. I know we have forum members here with DM Tabs, maybe someone will pipe up.

@llamapacker , From the sound of your description it may be that the clam door has filled with water and that is why it is so heavy !  You could drill a small hole in the bottom edge to see if water runs out.  Does your '06 have the hinge cover mod for the clam hinge?

And yes the Yahoo group has a lot of DM owners and an extensive files section for reference.

    So sorry: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/tabtrailers/info

Found in the Teardrop Groups and Links Category in the left hand column for future reference. At least I think this is the correct link.

For anyone who comes across this post and is looking for the old "Yahoo" group, it was ported over to this web page in 2020.  Still an active group with lots of good info.
