My dealer mentioned the number to dial in my Prodigy (controller I had at the time), but when first starting out on a trip, the brakes are a little grabby so I have to dial them down 3 notches. I am fortunate that I can go around the block a bit to smooth them up a bit. It still takes a couple of miles to get them right. It's all good because I usually pull over at a convenient place to do a last "walk around" and then dial the brakes to where they normally are when driving.
I still have to do that with the F150's built in controller. I think it's just a lack of use of the trailer brakes. I don't drive the truck all that much and those brakes can be grabby when I first take it out. Meh, just chalk it up to it sitting for a while unused.

@Ratkity, I must have missed your got rid of your Colorado (or Canyon)! And, yes, I know someone who initially had trouble with his Chevy truck and it’s built-in controller, but Chevrolet fixed the problem.

OMGosh, I'm not sure I said anything!! I now have a Ford F150 Lariat with tow package (black). I think it looks just like MichiganMike's. I put a grill guard on it and a hard top Leer tonneau cover (had it put on, I didn't do the work). I've been so focused on my foot stuff that it probably slipped my mind!
Pictures or it didn't happen, right?

V, thanks for the corrections! ooooOOOOOoops.. hehe. I had a Chevy Silverado in 1994. It lasted 13 yrs and was still going, but sold it because it drank gas. You could see the gas gauge go down as you pushed the gas pedal down lol. Had a big V8 in it. I'm not one of the Ford vs Chevy fanatic group. Both are good trucks.
