Alde Operation Question

May be an obvious answer but.......

We are checking the operation of all the systems in preparation for our 1st trip this year. Got down to the Alde and we do have hot water but I was wondering about heat. Its hot here so checking for heat coming from the Alde is not obvious.

If we are getting hot water do we automatically get heat also? Seems like since both systems operate off the boiler, if you have one, you have the other.

Thanks

You are correct about the boiler--the same heating elements provide heat for both hot water and cabin heat.

However, cabin heat also requires the circulator pump to operate to push heated glycol through the convector heaters under the benches. Even if you can't feel the heat because of the ambient temperature, you should still be able to hear the circulator pump kick on if you listen carefully. Of course, this will only work if the air temp is not higher than your highest thermostat setting. And if it's THAT hot I wouldn't be worrying about having heat!  ;-)

Another way to check if the heating system is working is to turn it on (thermostat way up) and reach in to feel on of the rubber heating tubes...should be warm fairly quickly.
