Carrying extra propane in TV

I am not comfortable carrying gasoline 3 blocks from home for our mower; however, do any of you carry an extra filled tank of propane in your TV?
Our neighbor has a big rig and he runs his frig on propane while traveling, even though he said that very thing causes many RV fires on the road.
We don't have time to make any outside adjustments before out first big trip and would appreciate your comments.
Thank you.

I carry both a sealed 2gal gas can for the generator (have never smelled any gas fumes) and an extra propane tank. The generator cap seals also. I don't run the frig on propane while traveling though.
From my experience - When running both the Alde for heat and the fridge on propane I get 5-7 days on a tank. If it's warm enough so don't need heat (or minimal) I get 12-14 day - depends on how much cooking I do.

We will be on shore power on our first trip, just thinking ahead as we won't be doing a lot of indoor cooking if the weather cooperates.
I think refilling before we leave would be adequate.
    Thank  you.

I carry a 10 lb tank in a milk box in the shower
The tank is for my Coleman stove but makes a good backup. They are expensive cuz they don't sell many but have a 13 year life like the 20s.

I never used to carry a spare until I ran into a couple of aresa where I had a hell of a time finding propane.

I just throw an extra 20lbs full cylinder into the trunk before we head out. Haven't had a need yet, but its nice to know you got spare. If you're crossing the Canadian border or riding ferries, you're required to disclose it. Don't ask how I know. ;)
