Winter Camping Approach

I am going camping in an area where the temperatures might get down to 25 degrees some nights.  I am hoping that this approach will work.  I am going to winterize the trailer (T@B Outback 2017) but I would like to use the back water holding tank.  I have an external holding tank that I was going to empty the trailer tank into every afternoon then put a little antifreeze down my trailer tank.  I am thinking that should protect the toilet valve and the gate value.  I am not going for a few weeks and it might not be that cold, I just want to be prepared now for freezing temperatures.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you

1 suggestion I’ve seen re winterizing was to use a spray bottle full of RV antifreeze and spray the tank valves, opening and closing them a few times between sprays to ensure distribution. Although I’ve not done that, it seemed like a good idea.

@JanetED another option that would be simpler is to make your own "litter box." Place two plastic bags, one inside the other, in the toilet. I also place something like a cottage cheese container lid over the dump opening to keep the bag bottom out of the antifreeze when winterized.  Add two cups (give or take) of kitty litter. When you decide it's time, pull the inner bag out, tie a knot and put it in the trash. Add a new bag, kitty litter and you're good to go, so to speak. I use this when Ladybug is in storage so I'm not running back and forth to the house when needed. Handy and simple, and fairly inexpensive. Good luck!

Never tried it, but I've read on other RV forums about plenty of folks who winterize then bring a few gallons of the antifreeze for flushing (when a public bathroom cannot be found).  Seems doable too.

Agree... We've used the plastic bags for early season camping. Works great  Drinking water in jugs.
