Alde heater element burnout?

On a domestic electric hot water heater turning on the heater, without water in the tank, will burn out the element in seconds.  I see no warning about this in the T@B 400 manual, nor in the Alde manual.  Is there a sensor that makes this concern un necessary?

Thanks,
- Steve

Welcome @SactoSteve. The Alde's electric heaters heat a glycol jacket that in turn heats the water in the tank (if there is any). The glycol is the same glycol that is circulated for cabin heat.
This arrangement allows the Alde to still be used for cabin heat when the plumbing is drained for winterizing.

    Welcome to the forum Steve.
Lots of great information can be found here - - - plus extra fun stuff.

The last sentence of the 3020 Manual paragraph 1.1 reads:
You may use the hydronic heating system to heat the RV without filling the water heater
    no underlines.bold in manual  ;)
