Indelicate topic?

I realize this may be an indelicate (although totally natural ) topic for some but I'm wondering what kind of toilet paper is best to use with the indoor toidie in the wet bath models.  I saw this "experiment" on the fit rv website:

and that got me thinking about it.  I mentioned, maybe foolishly, using Charmin ultra soft (see above link) and he mentioned that couild possibly cause warranty issues if there was a problem with the black tank.

Thought?  Preferences?

Oops, I mentioned the Charmin thing to the T@B dealer and he brought up the warranty.

What dissolves is good. Charmin seems to work pretty good! Dealer's wacky. :-)

I know a guy that used baby wipes (why I don't know) - screwed up both his camper and house plumbing - Roto Router charged him $800 for the house. They do not dissolve or breakup at all.

Scott brand- single ply only, no problems over 14 years.  It used to say on the individual wrapped tissue-RV safe.

Yeah, I kind of got the impression the dealer guy just wanted me to buy the TP from him.  Not sure how anyone would know what you used anyway unless it didn't dissolve at all.

We play it safe and use regular RV TP. Walmart always has a good supply of it.

That's nice to know.  I was trying to figure out how T@B owners were going to keep a supply with them and still have room for other "necessities".

We use the RV TP from Walmart as well, just so I don't need to read the labels on the others. Single-ply breaks up better to help prevent clogs that may happen when a clump of paper catches on the valve or other feature in the tank (sensor, for example, in so-equipped RVs - not our T@bs.) Absence of perfumes, lotions, and other treatments make it more palatable to septic systems at RV parks.

I just ordered a 12x4 pack of Scotts Rapid Dissolve ("Made for RV's and Boats!") Amazon prime, turns out to be .75 per roll, free 2-day shipping.  Love the Prime.

I do my best paperwork in the local facilities in the campground to save space and minimize any damages therein.   I have found that commercial grade toilet paper does take up a lot of room in a porti-potty unit via wicking and expansion.   That's about as delicate as I can get!

There are a number of videos demonstrating TP breakdown on Youtube. The key is to use single-ply toilet paper. I do try to use campground facilities except for late at night, before bed or sometimes first thing in the AM because the tanks are so small.

The consensus seems to be single ply only and RV TP only not necessary.  Also, use other facilities whenever feasible, makes sense.  Thanks for all the feedback.  Totally new to this RV thing so will no doubt be asking lots more questions.

I've used porti-potti's for many years and the key to eliminating having to continually dump the system is to keep any paper entry to a minimum.   I understand that this is one of them "touchy/feely" type discussions too, but if you really want to maximize use of the smaller holding tanks, place any used paper into a grocery bag and dispose of the paper separately.  It has worked for me for many years and might sound disgusting or gross, etc. but you won't be filling your waste tank up as quickly and it even makes dumping the waste tank easier and much less of a hassle.  They issue a ton of these plastic bags at grocery stores while shopping and they are very effective.....  I'll get off the throne here and move on as I've stated my nickel's worth!  LOL

"They issue a ton of these plastic bags" - Not in Santa Fe, even Walmart uses paper. Their swivel bag dispensers sit empty. Same at Smith's grocery stores.

Maybe not there, but the overwhelming majority of states around the US do use plastic.  I'll send you some!

Mike - Ya, most do, was surprised when I didn't get any in Santa Fe

DurangoTaB - Was totally taken off-guard by the bathrooms when I was in Japan - Actually didn't know what to do. Just a hole in the floor with no toilet paper, just a big vase in the corner with what looked like a pair of big chop sticks. Still don't know what you supposed to do and was afraid to ask.

PXL I spent over 2 years in Japan and don't remember the giant chop sticks in the binjo but that was a very long time ago. Perhaps they were for recycling the TP the previous guest dropped down the hole? (Just kidding of course. Loved Japan.)

I'm laughing out loud about the mysterious giant chopsticks.  My experience in Japan was in 5-star resorts with the most technologically-advanced toilets I've ever seen.  Actually, I was in NYC this weekend at a hotel with similar toilet/bidet combos that even had heated toilet seats.  Reminded me of those toilets in Japan.

Had dinner in a western-style apartment outside Yokohama one night and the hosts kids schooled me in the operation of their high-tech toilet. Amazing, did everything but your laundry and I may have just missed the button for that.

Spent a year in Japan 30 years ago as a college student and remember those traditional "urinal-on-its-back" style toilets quite well. But I remember even better a homestay with a wealthy family that had one of those fancy heated/plumbed toilet seats. A lot of people have them in the US now but back then I'd never even heard of one. Needless to say I spent more time than strictly necessary sitting on the pot during those few weeks, experimenting with all the features.
