Front window covering

I have a 2007 T@B and the front window has never had a covering - no blinds and no rockguard on the outside. I have made curtains for the window and have tried to attach the lower curtain rod to the carpeting on the wall using velcro, double sided tape, command hooks - nothing works with the carpet. I am not sure about putting hooks on that wall - don't want to put a hole in the trailer where water might eventually get in. My question is this - is it safe to put a small hook into the carpeted wall area and/or what other methods have people used to attach a curtain rod.
