Electirc Roof Top Vent Fan

I wanted to seal the gaps that have appeared in the roof top vent fan of my 2019 T@B Boondock . Will the roof support a 170lb person climbing on top of it? Has anyone climbed onto the roof of their T@B to perform maintenance and if so was there any issues with climbing on to it.

The roof was not designed to support your weight. Best to use a ladder and lean a bit. There have been reports of members who have dents where the roof meets the sidewall probably from someone putting too much weight on the roof.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

Another trick is to use some 2" (or thicker) rigid insulation as a buffer when you lean (or even kneel) on the roof. This spreads the weight out a lot. For the gravitationally challenged, you can spread your weight out even more by adding a sheet of 1/2" (or thicker) plywood on top of the foam.

That sounds like it will work, going to give it a try when I finally get around to doing it. I've come to the conclusion it's not a problem yet, water intrusion into the trailer, but at some point I would like to seal up all the open seams.

I weigh 165lbs and have been on the roof, several times. Spread your weight and don’t dig your knees in; it will hold you.TV- '16 Chevy Colorado LT Crew Cab-DuraMax

Thanks for the addition @4ncar! I was envisioning a sort of golf ball dimpled T@B roof after you’d clamored all over it multiple times!John, Judi, Guinness & OD in PDX

@jgram2 haha...pleased to say not. I got up there initially to install my fan shroud. That was two times... then I was up there on the side of I-95, when I lost 3 of the 4 cotter pins for said shroud, and lastly to reinstall said shroud in Charleston, sc after getting new cotter pins for said shroud. Haven’t been up there since!TV- '16 Chevy Colorado LT Crew Cab-DuraMax
