Bed Re-dos?
So, when I bought Gizmo (a 320s), I bought him for the plain fact of the sleeping space (I really wanted the CS... but the day to night configuration was too funky for me... so I bought the S instead). While I DO love the adjustable/jack knife back, I detest how much room the bed takes up and how difficult it is to get out of bed to do something simple like go the bathroom! I'm curious to know if anyone has made any major bed modifications; aside from comfort upgrades. If you have, would you share photos? I'm a creative gal but I can’t figure out how to solve my problem. Look out open road, here we come!!! @Gizmo, I camp with two large Labs, all of us on the bed. Seems each time I've camped, I try a new position. I first tried a 20" wide Thermarest and sleeping bag and that only lasted one trip. Now I have a twin size memory foam "lounger" from Costco with two layers of regular foam on top. It's wider and softer. The type of bedding you choose may determine how you sleep.
I would suggest testing out different positions until one works for you.
I'm not sure what you mean about difficulty...do you mean climbing out of bed? Or do you have stuff on the narrow floor space that makes it hard?
If it's just you and a small dog, I would suggest not using the bed slats. You could sleep wheel to wheel and your small dog would still fit on a side bench or next to you. If you take the table out and stow it under the side seat, you can get out of bed easier and also have floor space. I would do that if I only had the smaller of my dogs.
I have slept in every conceivable position. I'm limited because of the big dogs and have to set up the whole bed. My preferred position is to sleep on driver side, front to back, with my head under the air conditioner, feet under back cabinets. I don't get as hot either from the Alde.
Have fun!Debbie in Oregon

There have been several mods for this problem:I copied Photomom's pvc trick and it works great. It basically gives you a "twin bed" setup, and you get a center aisle!

@Gizmo, Are you setting up the entire bed at night or just putting the back down and sleeping wheel to wheel like most solo S owners do?

I am, indeed, @SAM... I'll try sleep wheel to wheel... I'm a stomach sleeper and not short (or thin!!!); 5'8" so I hope this will be enough room... but i'll have to give it a shot to find out.SAM said:@Gizmo, Are you setting up the entire bed at night or just putting the back down and sleeping wheel to wheel like most solo S owners do?

@SAM .... so it looks like it's going to work well! Just folded back the sofa and threw myself into the space and I ***THINK*** it'll do just fine. Now, to get back the king comforter and king topper to Amazon! I think that'll be the hard part as one can never put that stuff back in bag the way it came!!! LOL!!!!

The CS wheel to wheel is 70 inches. My 69 inch DH sleeps fine. I think the S model with the back down makes a pretty big solo bed, so you will be comfy and reduce the bed break-down work.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

@SAM, I so agree! The problem is my pup who HAS to sleep under the covers... not sure how I'm going to handle that... I might "make a bed" for her on the side...
Oh, Sam... do you by chance know how wide the back down and the first cushion (for a solo bed) is? Trying to figure out if I need twin or full sheets.

Can someone that sleeps with the S model rear wheel to wheel solo bed measure the width, please? @Gizmo, my best guess is 38 inches as I know the CS seat cushion is 20 inches wide and the back cushion is 14 inches, plus another 4 inches as the S midel rear back is higher. Let’s see how close I got😁Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

I haven't one of those; probably why I didn't get it!dragonsdofly said:@Gizmo, DH is generally defined as "dear husband".

You are correct... it is 38 inches. It was pouring down rain here with major lightning so I had to wait until the storms passed to go measure. I just read another post that reported 40 inches. Is 38 in. twin bed width wise?Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

Sounds like we need to make the tab cs-s a XL version. A bit longer and we all could have the leg room to sleep well.

Can someone clarify the width of the back cushion in the S or U? I am wondering if 54” fabric fits. I bet not. Shoot. Ahahah first world problems.2019 Custom T@B 320 U Boondock Lite-ish
