Window screen will not stay up

On our first trip with less than 40° F temperatures we found that the passenger side screen (bottom mounted) does not stay up when you want it open an inch or two for ventilation. It has worked fine on other trips this spring and summer where lows were above 50°. It does seem to be temperature related because after we got home it worked fine during the day at 75° to 80°, but would not quite stay up later in the evening at about 50°. As best I can tell there is a gray U-shaped piece of plastic or rubber on the ends of the sliding aluminum frame that uses friction to hold the screen in the desired position. I'm guessing that colder temps cause contraction and loosening of this piece. I thought I saw a post months ago talking about this problem, but I have not been able to find it. The front window screen behaves the same way, but the driver side (which we generally use less than the others) stays put wherever you want it. Any fixes for this? (other than resorting to using a small spring clip.)

nuCamp now mounts the screens from the top and the shades from the bottom and recommends traveling with both folded up. Can you reverse the mount? Shade on the bottom and the screen on the top?

Thanks, I've come across those discussions - most comments are about how to flip and the pros and cons regarding privacy.Sharon_is_SAM said:nuCamp now mounts the screens from the top and the shades from the bottom and recommends traveling with both folded up. We actually prefer the screen on the bottom. Did the factory flip them because of the screen dropping we experience? Is it a common problem? I think there is at least one thread here on the forum about it, but I haven't found it yet.2016 T@B S - TV 2004 Toyota Sienna -
The shades were sagging and with the shade at the bottom, you can have privacy and still leave an opening to get ventilation via the screen.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

@Sharon_is_SAM nuCamp recommends the screen/shade both be folded during travel, ie open? I've been pulling the shade up to close during travel. ThanksDebbie in Oregon

Yes, make it so the screens/shades are folded/collapsed. That way there is less strain on the fabric/cords and less risk of damage to an otherwise opened screen/shade.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

I have the older style shade and I travel with them rolled (open) and following @AldebaranJill 'sSharon_is_SAM said:Yes, make it so the screens/shades are folded/collapsed. That way there is less strain on the fabric/cords and less risk of damage to an otherwise opened screen/shade.
example I made inserts out of Reflectix to cover the windows when traveling/storing. They do a terrific job of keeping the heat out of the trailer.San Francisco Bay Area
