Design of 2019 T@b 400

Ok, there are some interesting design differences on the new 400 we picked up. We like the option for a bigger refrigerator, microwave, etc. But I seem to remember in looking at pictures of the 2018 models that there was a storage compartment under the driver side rear cushion where the dinette is. When I lift the cushion I see a cover that is screwed down. Did they do away with at compartment on the 2019 models?

    That was never a storage area, that's where the Dometic heat pump and fan are located!

    With the smaller (2.7 cf) 2-way refrigerator the controller (WFCO) is mounted under the closet.  The area under the passenger side of the dinette was an empty space.  At some point nuCamp added hinges instead of having the entire top screwed down.  That added easier access to a small storage area.  With the larger (3.1 cf) refrigerator mounted in the closet space the controller is mounted under the passenger side of the dinette and the access is again screwed down since there is no longer any room there and you wouldn't want stuff rattling around next to all those electrical connections.  The compartment under the driver's side of the dinette is pretty well filled with the air conditioner and ductwork.  There is a small hinged hatch towards the center line which gives access to the filter.

    My 2019 does not have the hinged access . I had to remove the screws to get to the unit so I could get the serial number.

    @BigGrover. If you are referring to the drivers side of the dinette then yes the whole top has to come off in order to see enough to get to the sticker with the model and serial number.  Even then it is hard to see.  However there is a very narrow hinged hatch towards the front (centerline) of the seat.  That allows access to change the filter. I'm betting it is there.  If yours doesn't have that you will have to pull the entire top to change the HVAC filter.  Or you could call nuCamp to see about getting a cover that does have the hatch.  It is supposed to have it.

    It is not there, I looked and would have noticec when I pulled the seat.

    Yes. The domestic heat pump is on the drivers side. I meant to ask about the passenger side. Got myself turned around.

    Mine has storage under the passenger side seat about 6" deep.  The ac duct is under that is why it's no deeper.

    @BigGrover and @falcon1970, the small access door for the Cool Cat intake filter is a very recent running change, I would guess only units built in Q4 2018 and after, not all 2019's have that access.

    Because storage is at a premium we opted for the smaller fridge retaining the closet AND the smaller storage under the passenger side dinette bench. They had to juggle quite a few things around to add the bigger fridge.

    @BigGrover. Well, I'll be!  Mine is a DEC build and it has the filter hatch.  Somewhere here I saw someone who didn't have the hatch cut one to make it easier to get to the filter.  I'll post a pic and some dimensions tomorrow.  It doesn't look to be too very hard to cut one although it will be hard to get as neat a cut as nuCamp's CNC machine.

    Thanks Falcon, mine was an Oct build.

    Ham - we opted for the small fridge too but did get the microwave.  Wr jave found the small fridge to be good as we carty an ice chest for beverages.

    After reading a previous post, I made the modification to my 2018 400.  I didn’t have the detailed pictures but the result is the same.  I used two stainless piano hinges which span the gap.  I appreciate your earlier post.
