t@b 400 sharp drawer/door corners

Cut myself twice on the hand opening and closing kitchen doors/drawers, with the sharp metal edges. The metal pieces almost look like they are supposed to have end caps, since they are shorter than the door/drawer width. Any insights?

Send an email to tech@nucamprv.com and discuss with this with him. I’m sure he can figure out something.

I checked the drawers on our 400,  and had not noticed the edges of the metal at the top of the drawer.  They are also some what sharp.  I will take a small rat tail file or jewelers file and round them  off just a bit.  The sharpness is probably from when the pieces were cut.  Thanks for finding that.  We have opened the drawers quite a few times and had no problem, but can see it could be one.

I just took delivery of my 400 and I am very unhappy with these sharp drawer corners!!! Im also disappointed that the whole rest of the camper exudes high quality finishes and then you see these drawer handles and it's like an after thought! Not only are they super sharp (I already tore my bedding and a pair of pants!) They are ugly! I'm going to try taking them off and then see if the drawer will still stay shut.  I'm trying to think of something else that could be used for handles that are better looking and are not sharp.  I dabble in woodworking so I'm going to try to make something else to use. I might even go so far as to hire a cabinet person to redo those drawer fronts.
  • I just went out to the camper and removed all of the metal pulls on the drawers until I can get something else figured out.  It doesn't look all that bad actually with the gaps....meaning I can live better without the sharp objects snagging everything until I can get this fixed.  I'm pretty annoyed though that I'm having to dissemble my brand new camper to avoid injury and damaging my clothing and bedding.

The sharp part that keeps snagging is the curved part.

I filed those edges down on my drawers.  Made them less sharp.

  • Yea, that's probably what I will do. Good idea.  They just dont look good either considering the quality of everything else....but that's just my personal issue.  Making them safe is the main issue.  I will file them I guess.  Thanks

@TabbyShack, if you have Android, or even an iphone, download the app Image Size.  Super easy.

  • Oh no!  I thought I was making it smaller! If you can fix again I won't mess with it again! Haha

I spent about 10 minutes with a flat fine file and reshaped the edges as @grubbster suggested and it worked well.  Hazard averted.

  • Good to know. I guess I will do that for now. Thanks! I'm already down in my wood shop and consulting with friends on ideas for a wood replacement pull.  I will post pics IF I come up with anything I'm not ashamed to show!
