New Victron monitor installation

Has anyone installed the BMV 500 shunt in a 400 under the bed? It seemed like the best place since it’s near the battery but i have concerns about the exposed connections in a storage space. Am I being paranoid or should I find some way to cover it?

@JamesC
That is where I put mine. And I have the same concern. I put my shunt on the forward wall of the storage hitch next to the inverter. It is pretty much out of the way and I don't think anything will shift into it, but...! I intended to call Victron and ask but until I read your post I just forgot.
I'll be interested in any info you acquire. -
That white wire is sure to get yanked if this is an active storage area...I’d suggest improving your wire routing for starters.TV- '16 Chevy Colorado LT Crew Cab-DuraMax

The white wire isn’t as stretched as it appears in the photo. There is relief, it just fell back for the picture.2018 T@B 400, 2015 F150 tow vehicle.

most of the exposed connection is a ground, so it is okay if it gets shorted to the chassis of the trailer, the worst thing that can happen is your meter will not be accurate. I would be more worried about physical damage to the shunt than a short.
On another forum I belong to a fellow took a plastic storage container, like cheap tupperware, and cut a couple of holes in it and screwed it over top the shunt to just give it a bit of protection.2009 GMC Canyon, 3.7 liter

I had mine installed by dealer. They put the shunt near that location, only on the floor. I have the inverter, so there isn't room on the wall of the storage area. They didn't put it in any kind of protective case either, so I added one myself. I got this cover that I saw on another forum: https://shop.pkys.com/Blue-Sea-2719-MaxiBus-Insulating-Cover-for-PN-2127-and-2128_p_2771.html
Here is what mine looks like now:

The cover is nice idea even if this is on the negative side of the battery. I'm a little surprised it's not a standard device.

Mandobiker,
I just bought the same cover you have pictured above. I'm trying to figure out what length screws to use. Do you know how thick that wood is where you attached the hard cover?
