Don't know what to tell you PX? Maybe it's because you're out in the toolies and I'm on Charter cable direct? The link loads in 4 seconds for me here at my home.PXLated said:Mike - Hit the link, waited 2 minutes, no go - How long does one need to wait?Mike - Elmira, Mi / 2019 T@B 400 / 2021 Chevy Silverado LTZ -
Not currently in the toolies - got a good connection - doesn't make much sense unless I have to be a member and logged in over there.
-
Not your connection PXLated as I get exactly the same behavior when I click the link. My guess is that this is either by design or a bug in the forum platform. My bet is on the latter as I can't come up with a good reason that you would need to be logged in, given that you don't have to be to read the post.Ben Trelease & Eleanor Bell - Seattle, WA - 2009 T@B Bell@luna TV Subaru Forester

PXLated, did logging on to the LG forum allow you to use the links above?Verna, Columbus, IN

Verna - Nope, logged into both forums (different tabs) and it still just gets me to the home page, not the individual threads.

The adventure begins. I now own 2x6 volt golf cart batteries. They are charging. I plan on the install Tuesday evening. I will add more solar inn phase 2 if needed. The new batteries should give us 4-5 days even without solar charging. More to follow.
Thanks again for all the suggestions!Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

Cool, keep us posted - Am interested in updating my battery packs at some point.

That's great, Norm. Please share pictures of how you position then in the tongue box.Verna, Columbus, IN

I will probably mount them outside the "normal" cover. I have a dual GC battery box and will probably mount it on the tongue farther forward. The reason is I am also installing a second propane tank in the old battery position. I will be removing the spare from the tongue and keeping it in the TV for now. Busy week ahead so I will post pics as I get work done. Our goal is to be able to be out away from the grid for 7 days with no worries. Then get a campground and do laundry etc for a day. Like everything in life though this too may change

The battery upgrade is complete and ready for business. The propane is fitted but not final yet. So far it's been easy and worked out great. Here are a couple of pics.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

GREAT, Norm! Where did you get the battery box, please?Verna, Columbus, IN

Your welcome Verna. Now you need a T@b to put it on.

Question: why two 6 volts? Why not just add another 12 volt?

More amperage. 2 6Volt batteries in series will give you 12 Volts at 220 Amp hours of current. It would take a giant 12 volt battery to do the same and cost a lot more. So far with phase one I am just over $300. spent.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

I'm impressed, double the propane and about triple the amp hrs!
I do have one question, did you happen to check your tounge weight prior to the upgrade and then after? That appears to be a lot of weight cantilevered even further out than stock.
Good job -
Prior I had the spare on the tongue as well as a second propane bottle. The spare and holder pretty much equalled the extra battery. So all in all I only added 10 lbs to what I had prior. I will weigh it today when I finish it. I expect 260lbs.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

The reason I asked is because I came very close to making that same battery box upgrade, and still may. -
Did you make up the wires to connect them or was it a kit? Could you explain the wiring set up too, I am not that up on electrical things.
-
The wiring was a surprise. The factory wire harness reached the box no problem. I did move the Zamp connector to the box, but that's easy. I was surprised at how easy this was.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

Rad. The tongue weighed in at 255lbs. Both tanks full. That's 12.5% of the trailer weight. And only 5 lbs more than what I've been towing for 6 months. I'm happy with how it turned out. Now off to Yellowstone NP for the weekend.Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

Great! Thanks for the update. Yellowstone, I have reservations for Yellowstone in mid Septembernormfun said:Rad. The tongue weighed in at 255lbs. Both tanks full. That's 12.5% of the trailer weight.
