2020 Canadian Rockies T@b Get-together Sept. 24-27

We’re planning the first (hopefully annual!) 2020 Canadian Rockies T@b Gathering in Jasper National Park on September 24-27. Parks Canada Reservations open Tuesday, January 7, at 8 a.m. (MST). If you are interested in joining us, we recommend making your reservations right away. This is a very popular park, although we tried to pick dates that weren’t in the middle of peak season.

For those of you not familiar with the area, getting to Jasper on the Icefields Parkway is rated as one of the top drives in the world by Condé Nast Traveller. The Icefield Parkway is a 232 km stretch of double-lane highway winding along the Continental Divide through soaring rocky mountain peaks, icefields and vast sweeping valleys.

We’ll get together at the Wapiti Campground, just south of the Jasper townsite. There is a very nice picnic shelter where we can gather for potluck meals (stay tuned for more details coming soon). At this campground, FF is the only loop with electrical hookups – all the other sites are unserviced. The campsites with the closest access to the shelter are:

FF3-FF14

G1-G7

H1-H5

L4-L10

K1-K6

To make your reservation, visit https://reservation.pc.gc.ca/Jasper/WapitiCampground?Map

Or you can reserve by phone, call 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783)

If you haven’t reserved with Parks Canada before, you may want to set up your account prior to reservations opening on January 7. Visit https://reservation.pc.gc.ca/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fViewer.aspx

We hope to see you there! Everyone is welcome!

Here is a link to a sign up sheet so we can keep track of who is attending. Thanks to Becky @Homebodyatheart and the organizers of East Meets West at Lincoln Rock for all of the inspiration, ideas, and templates. We felt so welcome, and had such a wonderful time there, that we want to pay it forward by organizing something similar in Canada.

January 11 update: We're excited to report that fellow T@bbers have booked 10 sites to join us at the gathering! There are still six sites (with power) available, and lots of unserviced sites.

Greetings.  We're wondering if there is more recent information on this gathering in September?  Is it still on etc.? This is a great initiative.

Internationals cannot camp in Canadian national parks through at least Aug 7 and the border is closed until Aug 1 at the earliest. I am trying to get up that way but they just closed all roads going to East Glacier. I am scheduled to be in Banff in early Oct.

I just heard from some folks from the US who were planning on joining us and they have cancelled their reservations due to Covid travel restrictions.
There are still a few sites left in the loop with power (FF), and some sites in loop G & H if anyone would like to join us!
