Turn on Alde with no water in HW tank

Our T@B has been sitting for a while. The HW and main water tank had been drained. Prior to a trip we were planning I turned on the Alde to make sure it was working......without filling either tank. I turned the HW tank onto #2.

Did I damage the HW tank?

    The glycol in your system heats up, heats the trailer interior and any water that is inside the Alde system.  Think of it as a thermos bottle of sorts, if water is inside the thermos and the system is turned on it heats whatever water is inside it via the heated Glycol circulating around it.  The system is designed to be run without water inside the trailers lines and you can heat the trailer without having water inside the lines.  All is good!

    To expand a bit, you can burn the electric heating elements out if you run them "dry" so your concern/question is not unreasonable. However, the elements are immersed in the glycol contained in the outer jacket of the Alde, not in the water contained in the internal HW tank. So long as there is glycol in the system (and there is no reason there shouldn't be) you can run either the electric or propane heaters with or without water in the tank.
