Snow Removal and Roof Concerns

400 is wrapped up for the winter in our side driveway. It snowed a good 12” yesterday. I see people here and on FB talking about removing the snow. Common sense tells me that not much can happen with a foot of snow weight on the roof…or can it? Point loads yes…evenly distributed snow. Maybe if there’s 20” of snow it would have me worried. I’m probably going to remove it today for peace of mind but wanted to get your thoughts on this.

I take a snow rake to mine after each storm. Maybe it's not necessary but it's easy enough to do. I'm less concerned with the weight of the snow per se than of freeze-thaw cycles creating a thick layer of ice over the top of the cover. The effects of ice can be a little unpredictable.2015 T@B Max S (320)

Thinking about the year we had back to back to back to back heavy wet snowfalls, I’d likely do as ScottG does simply because if I left 12”, it might be three feet tomorrow. Better to clear it each time and not risk it.

We clean snow off any time we get more than 4 inches in single event. Being only a few hundred yards from the water (Detroit River to Lake Erie) we sometimes get several events in a day or week. Usually by March or April, there is a 4' snowdrift between our house and the t@b and access is more difficult, but for the health of our t@b, it's worth it.2017 t@b sofitel(Dr@gonsFly)TV 2015 Silverado 2500hd(Behemoth). I just greased the old girls bearings a few days back
when the temps hit 60°. Got her all nestled nicely in the barn, fed her some oats and she’ll be ready to roll west to New Mexico on the 28th.

It was more of a large branch that just laid down gently in the bed of snow on top of the T@B. Other than to my cardiac tissue when I discovered the scene, there was no damage save for a tiny dent at the top of the roof.BrianZ said:That looks like a whole tree, @ScottG! I am nervous! Our T@B 320 is at home in the driveway (and covered with a thick cover from car cover dot com) and we are expecting up to an inch of ice after getting about 6 inches of snow this Sunday but of course who knows until it gets here how much it will be. We know it will be something though. I am debating if I need to take it back to the carport where we store it. Any tips.2019 Custom T@B 320 U Boondock Lite-ish

A soft pushbroom easily removes snow from the slippery nylon cover on ours. Maybe go out and clean off mid-term as well?

Came back here again. This time we have 8 inches of snow and I just went out and used a snow broom to knock it off after grabbing the cover and shaking the heck out of it so I could get as much off as possible before grooming. Just trying to pull that cover from front to back reminds me quickly how heavy that snow is. I read the roof can handle 60 pounds. But I don’t know how much my snow weighs.2019 Custom T@B 320 U Boondock Lite-ish
