Power generator and AC

We have a 2021 Tab320 Boondock - bought a Champion 2500W dual fuel portable inverter generator... using with propane... it is enough power to run AC when off grid... without installing any 'soft start' apparatus...      Just a FYI since we originally thought a soft start was needed, and the only info I could find online was relating to a 400 trailer....

    The 2500-watt inverter should be just fine.  A soft start suit makes using off grid power easier, but not always required with larger inverter type generators like yours.

    I would recommend testing your setup at a higher elevation just to be sure. I have a Westinghouse 2500 watt gas generator. It did fine at my house (around 4200 ft) but wouldn't work at a campsite that was at 5k feet. It was over 100 degrees that trip too. I ended up installing a soft start and it's been great and even works at 7k+ feet now.

    It may be cheaper to install the high elevation kit usually available from generator manufacturer (usually < $10) first and test it out. The Honda 2200i converted to propane and with kit installed works just fine on a 400 at home (6100 ft.) and when out (8500 ft.).

    Good call @johnfconway. For my application it would've required almost a complete teardown of my generator to install one. Otherwise I would've tried that first but I've also heard that it may not work going from really high to really low elevations (something to keep in mind if you're going to be doing that sort of thing) and would require you to swap out the jet again.
