Ever think about cheating on your T@b

Have you ever spent a lot of time day dreaming of getting another trailer? Maybe one with a bit more room, a dry bath and a few more amenities. Spent hours online looking at everything available out there and maybe even going to look at some in person? Then one night, you go out back to your T@b 400, prepare a nice table setting, pour a couple of margaritas, cook a simple dinner inside the T@b and spend a couple of hours listening to Hawaiian music and enjoying your wife's company. And during that time you realize there is nothing out there like a T@b, especially the 400. It's almost perfect. Such a great balance of amenities, quality and comfort. And nothing that you have looked at can give you the aesthetics and feeling of being inside the T@b. It is a unique trailer for sure and tonight was a great reminder of that. After a little over 3 years of ownership I can still say that I am so glad we decided to get one and I think tonight has satiated my desire to look at other trailers for the foreseeable future!

We are in the position daily of missing our t@b. We are full time in our 30' Keystone Laredo travel trailer. We miss the ease of transport (towing), ability to fit almost anywhere and especially, travel on the "fly". There is no spontaneity with 30 feet and 10,000 lbs. Life is always tedious logistics now.

We are 8 souls on board. 4 cats, 1 parrot, 80 lbs of German Shepherd, the husband and me. We require this massive container to shelter all of us. While we appreciate the lifestyle this trailer provides, there is not much simple joy in the easy adventure anymore as we had in the t@b.

This rolling home of ours is a tank, not a graceful, sleek teardrop. It has the cargo capacity of most 5th wheels, necessary because we started with building a large 1.4k solar system weighing approx 1,200 lbs, mandatory to support a full time boondocking lifestyle that is not now possible for life in our t@b.

We cheat on our dear "Dr@gonsFly" 24/7, and are sad that we do. If we ever move back into our house, and are priveledged to travel with our t@b again we promise to be faithful and true. -Denise & Jim

I dream about a ford transit van conversion every day. For anyone who wants alittle more but sill wants to remain compact i think its the way to go. If it wasn't for how expensive they are I'd switch right now but the tab serves its purpose just fine and I enjoy it for what is is regardless.

I second @Black93fiveO The idea of having a van conversion is high on my list. Financially it’s a terrible decision but functionally it makes all the sense in the world. You’re basically purchasing an entire vehicle that only sees (in most cases) a few months worth of use. To justify it I’d have to be retired and using it extensively. To be able to take it to narrow backroads would be ideal. Last year we took the 400 out to some narrow roads on BLM land and got some nice pinstriping from the brush…TV included. I’d rather just have a dedicated van that could get beat up a bit.

I lurk on the Safari Condo Alto Facebook pages. I dream of the 1743 or 2114. But I love everything about my Tab 400 so I’m not sure why I keep looking. Probably just the lure of a shiny new thing. Sigh.

I really do LOVE my '18 320S . . . .

However, it won't last forever (at least based on how hard I use it) and the 'enhanced' features of today's 320S and the not compatible layout of the 400 to 'my style of camping' means a (current) nüCamp product won't be my next trailer.

InTech SOL is a possible option. Not as quality built as a nüCamp, not as cozy as a 320S, but its systems and floorplan are a better match to my needs {{ excluding the lack of the Alde System . . . gosh, I really enjoy that heater . . . }}

Like @MuttonChops, we love our 2020 320S, but if/when the time comes we don't see another nuCamp product in our future. We're not fans of the 400's look and the new 320 only comes with the cassette toilet. It's been a great ride, but we'll be looking elsewhere. The nuCamp community will be missed.

@AnOldUR I have bought two 320 and the cassette toilet would also stop me as being elderly, caring around a heavy sloshing box of urine verses just pulling a valve to empty my black tank just is not going to happen. I also use the sewer solution which uses only a 1 inch hose to go to the sewer dump connection to make it better on me to hook up as I want to keep on traveling as long as I can. Art

Love my 400 but have to admit if I were buying today an Alto would definitely be running head to head with the 400.

Prior to picking up our 320 CSS we looked at vans, truck campers, InTechs, small Air Streams, and small teardrops and Tags. Privately I desired an Alto and none were available near here and they were priced higher. Last fall we finally saw an Alto in the wild and realized we like the cozy build of our Tab much better.

We love our Tab 320 and have no plans to cheat for a while... That said we have been looking and think when we retire and camp for longer periods we may want something bigger. I want it to be a 400 - but the wedge bed is a concern for my wife. So if we cheat, we are likely to cheat with an Airstream Caravel 22FB (or Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB with Twin Beds if our TV can handle it).

But it's a long way off! And on a promising note that may keep us from cheating - my wife would be more willing to consider a 400 if I consider sleeping in the convertible bed! Not sure I like the implication of being "kicked out of the bed" before we set sail, but if it keeps us in the nuCamp family who knows.

We think all the time about pulling the plug on a Grand Design AIM 15RB, for its size, Murphy bed, dry bath and big tank sizes. We've been in one, too, and they look nice inside. However, our 2018 T@B400 has mostly been so trouble -free that I'm afraid to make a switch! C'mon, NuCamp--there's a market out there for that floorplan and size (20 ft), with no slides!

We're just getting started with this whole T@B thing, so we haven't had a chance to cheat on her yet.....BUT, before we leapt, we did look at a few others but the build quality on the other RV's was abysmal compared to the NuCamps and they lacked the "cool retro look" factor.
There is however, a comparison to my boating life: we have a near perfect 41 foot sailboat (is there such a thing as perfect??) but I am usually on Yachtworld anyway looking at other boats. When on these boat porn sites, I am usually reminded that my current boat suits us just fine, it's paid for, it's fixed up just the way I want her and unless I have a gazillion extra $$$, I'll keep her and be content. I expect my T@B experiences will be the same...I look but don't touch!

NuCamp has made monogamy an easy choice for me. I bought my 2018 400 after a very unhappy short term relationship with an R-Pod which was poorly designed and configured with components chosen by an accountant not with longevity nor end user satisfaction in mind. While the 400 and the R-Pod were similar to the untrained eye, they could not be be more different.

The build quality, functionality and durability have made our 400 much appreciated but NuCamp’s support and ongoing commitment to quality seals my loyalty. In the last 5 years, we have traveled to all the lower 48 states, three Canadian provinces (with more planned at month’s end), camped in National, State and Provincial parks and after over 36,000 miles and 198 nights We are still in our honeymoon stage.

No camper is a 100% perfect fit but for my wife and I, our Tab is as close to perfect for our camping style.

Yep. I sold my boat to start trailer adventures.
That boat was a little displacement hull (FG) tug/trawler built in the 60's purchased to "see if slow boat power boating" was as fun for me/family as previous sailboats were. The plan was to use the little boat for 3-5 years then get something bigger & more modern.

Well, I owned that little tug/trawler for 23-years, it was just such a comfortable fit . . . but was always searching the boat listings.
