Got her! She's in my driveway...pulled her home easily....!! I left a few things on the list of starter products for Amazon....and because I wanted to ask if you all had a suggestion for a non toxic, non perfumey chemical additive for the toilet! Need the Rhinoflex hoses...one is squishy and one is black and expands and contracts...have a favorite? TIA!

Can't tell you which brand of pills I use as I just dropped the last and threw the bag - re supply day tomorrow. I have the Rhino with orange fittings and a brown, collapsible hose - Works great.

I put in washing soda and a gallon of warm water after every time we dump the black tank. It's good to leave some water in the black tank to keep things 'moist' with the next use, and it provides that 'water cushion'.

I don't remember offhand, but the info on the box suggests how much to use, for cleaning, I think. Maybe 1/2 to one cup or so.

Congrats!!! It sounds like your XC70 rocked it as expected - Volvos really make excellent tow vehicles with added safety features others don't offer especially when towing.

I thought that Formaldehyde chemicals were hightly discouraged since they kill the good bacteria in septic systems which I'm sure most camp sites have. I was reading the chemical sample I was given with my T@B (which I bought at a well known RV dealer) and was a bit surprised to see it had just that which tells me plenty of campers are still using it. With all the positive feedback on organic treatments I would think everyone should head in that direction. "Happy camper" (as jkjenn mentioned) gets the most consistently positive reviews and is a natural product so that's where I'm headed. Chemicals I'm sure only mask the bad.

So...even though my "Nimbus" is sitting in the driveway and we don;t have a first date until Sept 25...SHould I flush some Happy Camper down the toilet?
And how would I get it into my grey tank? Toss a little down the sink? How much, if any, water should I think of holding?

ELK - Doesn't hurt and you're ready for when you do go.
After I dump, I put one of the tank packets in each - toilet and sink - followed by a gallon of water. I have two different packets. One meant for black water that breaks down solids and tissue, a different one (lemon scent) for the gray tank that I dissolve in the sink. Got the last batch at Camping World but I know Walmart carries them.

Ok I got to ask... How long for One/Two people before you have to dump tank?

I know this depends on a lot of factors, but the 6 gal tank seems quite small.

webcrawler - Yep, depends. How much beer do you drink:-)
You could calculate for yourself, use a urnal for a typical day and you'd know your liquid output then factor in some for solids that will turn to slurry.

I would guess that we would mainly use it at night and camp ground for day use...

I was hoping that the black tank would last for a three day weekend with minimal use...
