Goodyear Endurance tread cracking after 3 years, ~25,000 miles

I had Goodyear Endurance tires installed on my 2019 T@B400 in 2022. The date code on the tire indicates they were manufactured in 2022. I am diligent about maintaining the correct tire pressure. Recently I noticed cracks in the tread grooves on both tires. I returned them to where I bought them, America's Tire, and they offered me a credit on replacements, which I accepted. Much research tells me the Goodyear Endurance is a top rated, high quality tire. So what's up with these? I guesstimate I put 20-25,000 miles on them in the last three years. Remaining tread was 4/32". The spec says new they have 8/32".
As a side-note the technician showed me my right tire was wearing a little faster on the inside (3/32" tread depth) than the outside (5/32".)
We'll see.

Do you put tire covers on when stationary? What tire pressure do you inflate to? I'm glad you found the cracks before anything happened.Debbie in Oregon

@dsfdogs I move around too much for it to be convenient enough for me to cover the tires, I live in the trailer. I don't cover the tires on my truck either. The Goodyear Endurance tires are load rated D and sidewall says to keep inflated to 65 psi, which I do diligently.2019 T@B400

Do not inflate tires to max rate on side of tires .Go to Goodyear endurance web site and there is an inflation chart for the size of tire and weight of the trailer . Use these rates to inflate the tires.2025 400 Boondock Black Canyon

I would pressurize to the pressure listed on the trailer, front left side on my 2019 400. Sometimes these are less than the Max tire pressure. In my view, using the max pressure is fine, though the ride may be a little rougher than it could be. Those cracks aren't due to running at max pressure.Rich2019 T@b 400

I'm considering what the correct pressure should be. The original tires were load rated C, 6 ply, Max 50 psi. The Goodyear Endurance are 8 ply, D load rated 65 psi max. I can't find a tire pressure recommendation on the Goodyear site. Google returns information from third party sites on tires pressure but I can't verify that it is an official Goodyear recommendation.2019 T@B400

On my '23 400 that came standard with the Goodyear Endurance tires, the factory plate on the tongue indicated 65lb pressure.Debbie in Oregon

@dsfdogs That's good to know. Thank you for checking and posting.
@MOS2 I saw that pdf of pressure on a non-Goodyear site, couldn't find it via Goodyear's site. I see you have a 2025. What pressure is on your factory plate?2019 T@B400

I have a 2019 400 made in late 2018 jimcenname and my load sticker seems to match what was on my OEM Rainier tires (50psi). I just got Goodyear endurance ST 225/75 R15 load range D and my max pressure on those is 80psi.

Are your tires ST or LT?2019 T@B400 Boondock Lite "Todd"2016 Toyota Tundra 5.7 Crew Cab -
Mine are ST but they're 205/75 15s

So @jimcenname I see the difference now. The Boondock T@B 400 I have must have come with the larger tire (which is why it is such a pain to get them off around the trim for inspection and service). I am running my new 225/75 15 Goodyear endurance at the max rating of 80 psi, and I have seen no issues with towing. Mine are still pretty new so no info on wear.
So the question is if the label will apply to ALL tires mounted on your rims, or just the OEM tires? I know in cars the door panel psi is the supposed correct psi despite brand?2019 T@B400 Boondock Lite "Todd"2016 Toyota Tundra 5.7 Crew Cab -
I have a 400 Boon dock , black canyon . It has off road tires different from yours .jimcenname said:
Your tire has a load rating printed on it . All tires have this . Use the load rating and the GVW of your trailer , to come up with recommend tire pressure .
Use the chart .I have 44 psi I mine .2025 400 Boondock Black Canyon -
Using the current trailer weight will provide an optimum tire pressure. Optimum means an average of smooth ride, fuel milage, and not damaging the tires. This is only as accurate as your guess at the trailer weight. If you underestimate your trailer weight, you will under pressurize the tires. The tires are now rated for a weight lower than the trailer weight. This causes excess heat and tire failure. If you use this method, guess high on the trailer weight.
Most trailer tire manufacturers are recommending maintaining the max cold pressure indicated on the tire side wall. This allows the tire to carry the max posted weight without any issues. If your trailer is lighter, you will get better gas milage and the tires will last longer; however, they will be harder than necessary for the trailer weight.2018 320CS-S

Do you camp in high heat areas like desert environments? Running them at max load shouldn't normally affect things other making the ride a little rougher. The only think I can think of for the uneven wear is an unbalanced tire or an axle problem. Do you have your tires balanced when you get them? Whenever I get new tires I always have them balanced. I also have them check them whenever they do my wheel bearings too. If you hit a curb or other obstruction it can easily cause an unbalanced tire which will definitely cause uneven wear.2018 TAB 320S

Yes, optimum pressure on those tires is 65, not 80 as is printed on the tire. I’m gonna have to keep an eye on mine. We don’t specifically cover the tires, but we have a cover on the camper that goes over them. But we also run the camper at least once a month. They aren’t the exact same size as the Boondock tires that came with it, we had to go down a size, but they still fit fine. Boy, that was a lot of work choosing these two so it’s disappointing that these are failing you.2019 Custom T@B 320 U Boondock Lite-ish

Information purpose only, not my recommendation. Purchased new Goodyear Endurance tires today and below is the information Discount Tire provided me regarding recommended tire pressure. It is interesting to read the different recommendations for correct tire pressure, from what is printed on the tire, pressure recommendations provided NUCAMP, and individual preferences. This may be another option?
- Get the actual weight on each axle (loaded with gear) using a scale.
- Divide the weight on the axle by the number of tires on that axle.
- Find your tire size and load range on the specific manufacturer's inflation chart.
- Match the load per tire to the chart to find the recommended cold PSI. The pressure on the sidewall is the maximum for maximum load; you often run less if your load is lighter, but never more than the sidewall's max.
