Spare tire clearance issue with modified crank handle

I modified the crank on the trailer jack, now pointing to the rear, so the handle would clear my F-150 tailgate while the trailer was attached.  What I did not check was the clearance for removing the spare tire.  I have a 320S Boondock with the spare mounted on the front of the tub.  I am getting new tires so I tried to remove the spare tire.  The problem is insufficient clearance to remove the spare with the handle pointing to the rear.  I'm glad I discovered this in the garage and not out in the boonies somewhere or along a busy interstate!  I've been running this way for a couple of years and thankfully never had a flat.

Now I need to rethink things and find a way to have clearance for the tailgate while still allowing access to the spare.  Just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone who might have made a similar mod to the jack handle and not realized the clearance issue.

I installed a Trailer Valet on my '21. The handle can be removed or can be positioned to the side. You also need the base plate to lift it above the welded on plate on the tongue. You can also get a removable jack but I prefer everything bolted in place.

I installed the Ultimate Jack with a spacer from Sea Biscuit Metal Designs. (the Spacer for the Jack It bike rack.) the crank is on top, I use a speed wrench or my cordless drill to jack it up/down.)

This link leads to the simple modification to make this change for a drill powered jack and get lots of clearance too.  Any 3/4 inch wrench will get the job done if a power drill with socket isn't handy...
