I have a Autowbreak controller(and love it) I have used with a 4Runner and a Highlander. Currently using it with my Telluride. The thing I love about this break controller is it attaches to the trailer so changing vehicles is almost seamless. They are expensive ~$480.00, but in my experience well worth the added cost.
RedDArc on 3rd gen Tacomas have a history of fault in 0F weather, causing faint brake light strobing 24/7 even parked. May not be issue for you. Dealt with it two winters now.
Autowbreak is my go to break controller.Set it and forget it. I can change my tow vehicle and not have to worry about a new break controller. Well worth the look and I strongly recommend it.

Generally in the mid-position, but I have a 400. Each combination will be a bit different as it depends on the weight of the trailer and how well adjusted the trailer brake shoes are. I would experiment to find the best setting for you, by using the manual control as well as braking at various settings to find where the trailer and the TV brake uniformly, as if the trailer isn't there.
