Alde Gas Failure Alarm
We're on a long trip with a lot of boondocking so a couple nights ago when I turned on my Alde for hot water and got a "gas failure" alert with flashing caution signs I was not happy. I've seen this before but couldn't remember what I did about it. I thought it required accessing an in-line fuse under the bed. Searched here and saw lots of things like empty propane tank, air in propane line, failed circuit board, etc. All of these I knew not to be true. I turned off the battery switch for about 30 seconds and when I turned it back on was able to switch on the Alde with no alarm. This is in a 2023 400.

Good for you for getting things going. The best way to clear any Alde error is with the 12V battery disconnect switch.
The reasons for a gas failure error can be varied. Not enough propane. A propane pigtail that is just not working nicely. A propane regulator that is not working well. The Alde has a fairly complicated startup procedure on propane, and several things have to go correctly: proper amount of propane, the proper speed of the exhaust fan…and only then will the Alde light the gas.
This often happens to owners in the spring when the Alde has been sitting idle for months (that is my guess). When this has happened to me, I've simply reset a couple of times, and the Alde has started normally, like yours did.

Perfect timing. This happened to me last night even tho I'm plugged into 30 amp. Went thru steps this morning, turning off 30 amp, battery disconnect switch and then rebooting everything. We camped on electric about a month ago and none of this. Does anyone know why so I can avoid again? Other than Alde is persnickety 😅

@rharms Welcome to the Forums.
Alde gas failure alarms "usually" can clear after a reset…or two. My personal feeling is that an Alde that has sat for a while, suddenly asked to start on propane, might have trouble getting all the moving parts moving at the right speed and right time to finally light up the propane and make the Alde work. So, a couple of resets might get things moving and the Alde starting.
But: if the Alde simply refuses to start on propane after a lot of tries, then it is time to look at all the parts of the propane system: the propane tank….the propane pigtail….the propane regulator. Tanks are usually pretty bulletproof, but the pigtail and the regulators can either fail or simply stop working properly. If the amount of propane being sent through the regulator is not "correct" the Alde may not want to start under those conditions. The stove might work and the propane fridge might work, but the Alde is a bit more particular in having the correct propane "pressure".
Those are the easy things to check over. The harder part is checking the "propane pressure", which is a sort of overlooked maintenance sort of thing. It doesn't come up often, but there are some threads about how the regulator works and how to measure and set your "water column inches".
Usually: a pigtail or regulator replacement helps get propane to the correct "pressure". There have been a couple of threads where owners have dug into the Alde, found the basic "switch" that allows the propane to actually flow (that isn't the right term, I'll figure it out later!) and made their Alde work on propane.
And, of course, "persnickety". The Alde might throw a gas failure error even if the actual issue is some other part of the propane startup process, like the exhaust fan.

We are still making our way through a 2 month trip to Alaska and back. We don't turn on the hot water system every day but when I do I get an Alde alarm about half the time. Either gas failure or fan failure. I don't shut off the battery switch any more, just turn the Alde off and on. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries but eventually I can hear it start. I bought a new regulator the other day but as long as I can get it to work by hitting the on/off switch that is good enough.

Alaska! Good for you! Pictures, please!
For the alarms: this is how the Alde works, throwing alarms for different things. The Fan Failure alarm could be the real cause, since the Alde start up procedure includes "timing" the fan to make sure it spins to the proper RPM. There was a FB owner a few weeks ago who took their fan out (we can show you how) and just sprayed some lubricant on the fan hub, and that solved their issues. It is worth a shot, and not hard to do.
