Propane regulator adaptor

I'm curious to hear what others do when the propane tank dries up. I was thinking about what we would do if while cooking, the gas ran out. I found on Amazon (of course) a brass do-hickey called a "steak saver" that lets a user attach one of the smaller propane bottles to the line so one could finish a meal, or keep the heat going until morning comes. My thinking is about saving weight and space. Has anyone used this set up? If so, does it work?

One thing with the small canisters I've found in baking with my grill is they only last about four hours on a medium setting. So whether they'd get you thru the night would depend on how much the fridge and Alde were using. Cold night, who knows. Might be better off getting a 5 or 10 pound spare propane tank.
