Under Seat Storage (Driver Side)

I was checking out the driver side bench seat on my 2015 S and could not help wondering if there was not a way to gain some storage in this location. There are power cables, water pipes and the converter consuming a fair bit of space. I was thinking about building a rasied shelf that can be removed. It would sit above all of the pipes and wiring and could be easily removed for access for servicing. It might only give 6 to 8 inches of depth, but that would be better than none. If I build something I will certainly post up some photos. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. There is also room around the ALDE, but I am not going to pursue that at this time.

I recall someone in the forums did this - Can't recall what the thread would be though. Was thinking about doing it myself but hadn't gotten to it. My only concern was what kind of heat the converter generated in there.

James, that sounds like a great idea. A shelf with a handle like a tool box tat has a top section that lifts out might be nice.

We found several units that fit in the space nicely and used them for the top half the space while leaving the Alde cables and conduit underneath undisturbed and uncrowded.

TABalong that looks like a great solution. I still think I will come up with something custom as I want to extend it to the full size of the seat.

In in terms of the converter heat, I will check it out further, but I don't recall any vents inside. If there are, I will ensure enough air flow and can provide a mesh in the area above the converter to allow the heat out.

Storage is always an interesting and intriguing topic in these smaller trailers as space is at a premium. Here is some "food for thought" in the photos below and I think you are on the right track in considering a raised (false floor of sorts) panel that sits above the wiring and plumbing. the only other issue or concern would be heat if there were ever any electrical devices (e.g., relay devices, inverters, etc.) in a confined space, but you will should be fine. As opposed to having to constantly remove a panel, you might even consider a dual, hinged panel with hand hold areas that would flip up and over to the sides and remain in place should you ever have to get to the equipment below.

I agree Jenn, and for anyone handy with woodworking tools, etc. some of this stuff would be a nice addition to any trailer. I love the drop-down spice rack and with a good latch it would stay up and intact and ready to use the next time out. I like the mailbox trick too and actually have a mailbox that I mounted down in my yard that serves as a great storage location for all my gardening hand tools, bush snippers, etc. No more running back and forth to retrieve tools and they are waiting in the ready position for the next time I need them, outdoors and protected from the weather.

Maybe it's a good thing that the Campingworld Canada site is much more limited, otherwise I would be too tempted to pick up some of those items. As it is, I have been ordering many needed items online as we just got our T@B late November and not having had a trailer before, I am having to acquire all of the necessities. (Sewer hose, tank flush wand, leveling blocks, potable water hose, pressure regulator, surge protector...)
