exhaust extension for honda eu2000

Have not taken receipt of our TAB CS-S yet (March/April).  Have a Honda EU2000 that I am considering mounting on the tongue with the security plate.  Plan is to run it there with an exhaust extension.  Anyone seen this?  How long an extension would make it safe?  Plan is to transport the EU in the TV, not on the tongue.

Haven't seen anyone do that - I move mine around to whatever corner of the T@B lets the wind carry the exhaust away (and the sound). This week it's by the tongue jack. Last week it was the drivers side rear.

Be careful about extensions for the Honda generators (or any gen for that matter). You might make them louder (the extension acts as a trumpet) or most importantly, you might create back pressure if the extension hose is too long and burn out your valves.

I've seen 1" quick connect steel extender hoses on Ebay that are 10' long for the Honda gens, but would be leery to use one. If you are going to pick it up and put it in the TV anyway, why not just point it so exhaust is carried downwind like PXL does? I have the steel addition to the handle on mine and a very thick braided cable + lock to easily secure it to the tongue.

I secure mine to the tongue or one of the rear handles.
As Ratkity says - If you're have to move it from the TV, you can place it anywhere.

Seems like the vibration would permeate the T@B being mounted to run while on tongue as you plan on doing...I like mine as far from my T@B as possible....

I put a small towel between the security cable and T@B as a buffer or yes, the vibration will permeate.
  • Thanks, everyone for taking the time to keep me straight.  Sounds like the steel handle+cable will work the safest.  About how far away do you place the generator?   Trying to figure out how long a cable to get.

Mine sits right next to the edge of the T@B or frame with exhaust end pointed away so the breeze can take the exhaust away. Have never smelt exhaust in 2+ years or had the detector go off.
  • thanks to all...
