Single lever shower control install

I switched out the cheap O RV shower faucet that is very hard to control temperature with a residential single lever control. Access was easy from the back and the install was fairly easy if you are ok with cutting a couple of holes in the wall. There are 6 square head screws that hold the access panel behind the TV.

Nice install Dale. I was there for the beginning, and I will have to say it looks great. Can you just set it for the temp now, and it stays?

If you want it hotter turn the handle left, turn right for cooler. The shower head now also now shuts off completely, no constant trickle.

Dale,  good talking with you and Eric last night by phone, sounds like you guys were holding your own T@B rally. I am finally getting around to working on my T@B again since the new house is almost done. I have had this mod on my list for some time and started it today. I would have it finished, by there is one part I needed to order. I will post you up some pics when I am finished.

Just replaced our shower head with this one I found at CW. It has a hand operated flow control that can also be locked in the on position.

Love this mod.  Where did you get the handle and shower head?  Any other parts to purchase.  My history with plumbing is that you never have all you need in the size and thread you need it.

Single lever shower is standard residential from Home Depot. The shower head was from Camp World about $12. The extra long metal flex hose from HD. The hose is long enough to reach through side window and can double for a outdoor shower as well. Installation difficulty is about a 3 on a scale of 5.

I Do have waterproof Frog Gear though. I'll bring a tape measure, and mark a "no reach zone" off for the next camp-out! ;)

Ericnliz, this mod might just make Liz very happy without the cost of an installed outside shower...and you could have water fights with @Dalehelman to boot!  (I'm just going to wander off and sit in my easy chair and watch the festivities...)  =)

     I finally finished
the shower faucet upgrade. I chose the American Standard Stratton Shower faucet
( $74.00 from Menards) , It was the only one I could find at the local big box
store that allows you to adjust the flow rate by moving the handle upward or
downward and the temperature left to right. So once you have the water temp set
    you can
shut off or adjust the flow
without changing the temperature. The fitting I used to attach the handheld
shower hose is a wall elbow from Delta part

#50560 ( $23.11 from Amazon). Thanks for the idea Dale, we are really
    going to like this upgrade.

sorry about the view on the last pic

Nice work Shawn. As an after thought I wish I had brought my hose out the bottom and I really like the right angle fitting. You always do nice work.
