Solution to blown 30 amp battery fuse

I was talking to @ericnliz yesterday and fuses came up. Most of us have had that necessary but annoying 30 amp fuse blow at least once. You are usually not aware immediately until you notice that your battery is not charging. Or none of your 12 volt circuits are working. Hopefully you have a replacement at hand. Unless you already used it and haven't remembered to buy a replacement. Oh yeah and in my case it's usually dark. Well a simple solution is an auto resetting circuit breaker. Available at any auto parts store they come in most amp ratings, and are a simple plug and play.

I was surprised there was a automotive breaker that supposedly resets. I replaced it with a breaker that also acts as a battery cutoff switch.

It's basically a thermal switch. When it heats up it opens then closes as it cools. If it doesn't close after a minute or two then there is probably a dead short somewhere that needs to be dealt with.

My last trip I blew my circuit to the battery I so need this part. So if I go to the local auto parts store and play the ditzy woman and ask for a auto reseting circuit breaker they will know what I'm asking without selling me parts I do not need? Don't knock the ditzy part, sometimes playing the part they will help a little more.

Show them the picture and tell them you want a 30 amp. Should be $5-$7.OutbackIdaho said:My last trip I blew my circuit to the battery I so need this part.
