Mounting Side Tent on the Driver's Side of the T@b

During our recent camping trip, we mounted the side tent on the passenger (door) side of the Tab as I have seen others mount it. My wife and I don't use our inside toilet, so end up taking a couple of hikes a night to the bathroom, passing by our friend who was sleeping on a cot in the side tent. Has anyone mounted the tent on the driver's side of the T@b? What are the advantages? Disadvantages? Thanks.

    Here is a discussion about putting a tent on the driver's side of the T@B. It does not discuss the advantages and disadvantages but it sounds like you have to do some work on the keder rail before using the tent on that side.

    You just need to widen the keder rail track a little to allow entry of the cording for the top and skirt.  I have seen Tabbers put an awning or visor on the driver side to contain a kitchen/washing area.  I think that most peoplw want the ability to use their tent during rain/cold directly from their door so most use it on the passenger side.

    The two things you must be aware of, if you mount the tent on the driver's side the AC and the Alde vent would be inside the tent. Lots of excess heat from the AC if you are running it and you cannot run the Alde system on propane.

    I don't see how the side tent would even fit on the drivers side unless you turned it inside out. Has anyone done it?
