How Can I Not Get Notified When...

Hi Peeps... is there anyway to set a discussion so I don't keep getting emails saying that someone posted something? I might have commented on a post and got my answer, but then I keep getting notified via email. Example, today I got 6-7 emails regarding a conversation between 2 people that didn't even relate to the post. I would love to be able to turn it off at will...
