Jack wheel

I have the same problem. 90% of the time I use a BAL short foot pad instead of the wheel. If I need the wheel, I either have a partner help me lift to put the wheel on, or put the foot pad on - jack it up - block it - and then put the wheel on.

Has anyone cut the jack tube?
-
I had this problem and reasoned that, with everything loaded in the bed of my truck, it actually lowered the tongue an inch. I switched to a hitch with 1 inch less drop and everything has been perfect since then. If you're unable to do that, I can give you the details of what I had to do before that, but it is a pain in the toukas.

What did you use to cut it. Hack saw, saws all, porta band? You also would have to drill new holes for the pins too right?

The drop of my ball mount leaves the trailer a touch nose high. I can remove the wheel when parked on flat ground.
If I don't need the wheel, I simply put a block of wood under the jack tube to serve as a foot plate.
If I do need the wheel, and can't get it on due to uneven ground, I do as trainwrecked does; jack it up, block it, then install the wheel.

I raised the whole jack about an inch with spacers and longer bolts where it bolts to the top of the frame.

I make it a habit not to use the safety pin to secure the dollie wheel. That way there is no chance I can forget to remove it which could be very ugly. After I hook to the TV I run the jack up up all the way and the wheel drops off. Yes I did forget to remove the wheel one time which caused some minor damage to the jack. Just something to consider.

Same for me. I think that many people are making the same mistake that I did. We need to measure the ball height when the TV is fully loaded for camping. I increased the height of the ball by one inch and all my problems disappeared.marknjudy said:I had this problem and reasoned that, with everything loaded in the bed of my truck, it actually lowered the tongue an inch. We use a jack foot instead of the wheel. No need to remove when trailering. Can still move the tongue around easily.
