Upgrade hinge for clamshell

Tab is 2017. Bought the parts for upgrade hinge for clamshell. Does anyone have experience making this upgrade? It uses two long aluminum strip, handful of screws and a strip of treated canvass, (Flexion) just like the new TAB. My main concern is: do you remove all the old hinge, or just the cover? Upper hinge? Lower hinge? The parts person at Pleasant Valley was not sure.

correction. The TAB CS is s 2008. Need advice before I remove a handfull of screws!!!

You may or may not know the answer to this but I just signed up so I could see the Yahoo group and all I ever get after logging in and clicking on your link is this and it just spins and spins and spins.. any ideas? Is there a trick to it?

I can't explain - they work for me

Try this:

sign in,

select "photos" at top of page

select "actions" at top right

choose "alphabetical"

find "*clamshell photos"

There are three or four close-up photos of the hinge and cover on a yellow T@B CS. The files open in random order - sort of a pain. I can't seem to copy the image or I would have.

When I had my rubber cover put over my hinge, the dealer did not unscrew or remove any of the existing. The long strips were screwed above and below the existing, with the rubber secured underneath the strips.
