I mounted a motion activated solar porch light to the side of my door, under the handle. It does a good job of lighting the step and I hardly use the original porch light anymore.2 -

Given the amount of gear you like to haul maybe a pickup truck is a better solution? Or maybe a popup camper (would eliminate the overhang problem).1 -

I know this is an old post, but I'd like to note that the Luci lights make a great landing strip if you have to park at night.2
