Yes, indeed it can work with house current. Low voltage LED lights are a lot less demanding so the unit works fine here too - until it wears out or gets soaked and corrodes.1 -

Ultimate Jack is the way to go. Different tailgate problem but same solution. Simply remove the jack stalk completely after hitching up and you'd have lots of room to drop your tailgate. As @Hor…3
