Travel in winter conditions

I see many discussions re winter use --- my newbie question - How do you avoid icy/snowy roads?  My Subie can handle the ice & snow but I visualize a skidding, swerving T@B!! This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm serious...snow tires or just wait for a clear road?

Snow tires on the tow vehicle, and chains and a winch in the trunk.  But just regular tires with at least 6/32" tread on the T@B.  Never had a problem with the 320 on ice and 6" snow.

But never have had to emergency brake with the rig either.  Even with a brake controller, if you brake hard enough on slippery stuff while turning I'd think things could get exciting.

If really worried you could get chains to fit the T@B wheels.  But Nucamp or Dexter may not recommend that.

I think most try to avoid towing on snow and ice.  That is why folks plan their routing using southern routes and predominantly traveling in the 3 seasons.
