Tab 400 cabinet button latch upgrade

My 2018 400 had experienced cabinet latch failure and I received replacement latches which I installed.  The latch design is not great and I feared they would fail again so I have been contemplating a better replacement.  

I took a detour on our way home and went to Sugarcreek and was fortunate to have a tour and which included access to a new 400 prototype.  All the cabinets and drawers had button latches.  

I was able to obtain two new button latches (part #56-00-3979) and after careful measuring, drilled the holes and mounted the catches.  They should work out well.  An immediate benefit is the latch can be unlatched while in campsite and only really need to be latched when moving.

Nice.  I just ordered some on Amazon.  They are listed as SeaDog but they are actually the Seaworld units we have with one exception.  The knob and bezel are chrome plated brass.  Very nice and they are only $15 each.  Much less than my dealer wanted to get them from Nucamp and much nicer.  If you like the brushed look you can do that with some steel wool or similar to get a nice brushed look.  I just mounted one on the lower cabinet door that kept coming open and spilling Tony’s seasoning all over the floor.
