New to RVing

After decades of tent camping, my wife and I decided we needed to not tent anymore. It took us about three years of looking (we looked at everything), but we knew the first time we saw a T@B 400 at the Calgary RV Show that it would be the trailer for us. Might as well start at the top, right?

We were waiting for the latest 400 to go on sale at the only dealer close to us, but it just wasn't happening. Then, this past February, we decided to stop in and just have a look. No, there were no sales, but one can dream. The sales guy we had talked with a couple of times over the preceding years was trying his best to get a good deal for us, but to no avail. Still more than we could afford. Then, as he asked what interior colours we preferred (one was green), his eyes lit up. There was another customer of his who had a 2019 400 who was selling because they were buying a slightly bigger Airstream. They had only used it 3 times, and it was even in the dealership at that moment for a warranty repair. AND it was the perfect price.

After a about a month and a half, we were able to bring Hopper home. The original owners were so meticulous that Hopper still has that new trailer smell. You would never know they had even used it (except for some road paint sprayed up the front. Should be easy to clean off). Because of 'the covids', we have not been able to take him out yet. But we have camped in our back yard. Looking forward to July and our first trip!!

Thank you. For the last few weeks I have been reading so many things in this community that have helped me understand more about our T@B, that I knew I needed to sign up. All of you lovely people seem so helpful.

Y'know what else I like about this community? Reading through discussions and, even though some get a bit off track, there is usually some tidbit of information that adds to everyone's overall knowledge of their T@B. Awesomeness.

@Syd, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your trailer! Although you've already been asked, a major mantra here is "pics or it didn't happen". So, post a pic or two of Hopper. We all love to share the joy of getting that new "baby" home, and the pride of ownership.

Had some family in High River area, back in the day. 

No doubt you'll get asked this question so I'll throw it out there. Trust you ran the numbers regarding towing with the Kia and you have the model that gives you 5000# and 500# tongue? 

I own a Volvo XC60 T6 and it's max was 3500# towing. Not enough for a fully loaded '19 400. That prompted me to get the Tahoe. 

This is a great resource of information, without question! Nothing like having "on line mentors" to show you the ropes.

@AirBoss - Yes, our Kia is able to tow the 400. Has the V6 and rated for 5000/500.

Pics eh?? First one is Hopper in the backyard. Second one shows the green which helped my wife give him his name.

Air-boss...I think you should get something like this to tow your Otto..maybe rebuild it first.

What a shot! No idea what make that is, do you? Lines of a Plymouth but... 

Sure we've all had this...guys rolls down window at stoplight and asks if the T@B is retro or new? What's old is new again!

@AirBoss @trimtab The photo of Mr. Happy towing the trailer can be found here.  Down in the comments they decide it is a Buick.  And deconstruct his clothes, his camper, and where he might have been in the trailer.
