2021 T@B 400 measurement needed: external storage compartment (how big of a grill)

Could someone with a 2021 Tab 400 share the width and height of the opening of the external storage compartment (the one with the battery cut-off)?

...with the Amazon shipping delays if I wait until I take delivery of my new camper I may not receive my grill in time.  This measurement will dictate the grill I select.

    Thanks!

DW called nucamp to get the opening's measurement: 14" x 9-7/16".  Before the call she jumped the gun and ordered a Coleman Roadtrip grill that was on clearance...by spec it's about an inch too tall...once we get our 400 and our grill I'll have to modify the grill legs so that it'll fit through the compartment entry.

The Roadtrip has twice the surface area of the Fold-N Go.  She likes grilling vegetables  along with meat so the extra space was enticing.

The two tabs that lock the compartment are about 1/2", the true height is about 9"

what model did you get?  We have the LX that has the table like fold up legs instead of the wheeled ones.  The grill itself sits in the stand and also the lid can come off.  So between those you might be ok.

Hi @Tampakayaker.  We got the Roadtrip 225 Tabletop....not from Amazon but the one on Amazon is linked here.  I should know in about a week how we'll get it to fit in.

Similar to mine but smaller and no stand.  You should be able to pop the lid off to give you clearance.  Did you get a griddle plate with it?

We got two stove grates for the grill on clearance. We're planning on using a regular griddle we already had on top of the stove grates.

just logging an update in case anyone else looks at storing the Coleman Roadtrip 225 in the Tab 400 external storage compartment---it doesn't fit...it's too wide...I was looking at the height (a workaround was to change the feet) but there's nothing that can be done about the width.  We're going to store the grill under the bed.

Wow, that exterior compartment opening is 10 inches narrower (horizontal) than the previous model, and about the same vertical height - about 40% smaller opening.

The door is small...especially considering how long the space inside the compartment is...so long items that would fit, may not be able to get through the door...I know this because I ran into that exact problem last night! Still a very usable space overall though.

@ChrisFix do you think there is an opportunity to enlarge the door for someone bold enough to cut through the exterior? Obviously the replacement would have to be at least as tall as the new door’s vertical profile as well.

    @TNOutback
Looking at the inside of the storage area, it looks like you have several inches on both left and right sides that could be used to enlarge the width of the opening and not run into anything.
The height of the door is as tall as fits - it is constrained by the bed above it.
The door on the 2021 model is identical on both sides of the camper (the one covering the nautilus water inputs and the one for the exterior storage).
I think nucamp used this door on the exterior storage for 2021 just for the consistency of them side to side...not for any structural reasons.

You could always get and install the 2018-2020 storage door.  You will need to reframe the new larger opening with some 2x2 wood, here is a shot of,the 2018/2019 door framing
