2014 T@B question about the Norcold Refrigerator

Has anyone modified or made an upgrade to the Norcold? My wife and I had the T@B out to the wilds of MT for two weeks. It was fairly cloudy and rainy. The refrigerator , without power became a wasted space. I do have a solar panel -Zampf 140 - but had to constantly check the two 6-volt deep cells while moving from site to site. Ended up using two coolers and constantly buying new ice. Seems inefficient. Any tips, links, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Consider the Norcold NRF.  It is a chest style cooler that I believe is more efficient that the CSS Norcold 2 way.  They use it in the TaGs.  Or, better yet look at the refrigerator with Danfoss style compressors (ARB, Engle, etc.). No matter what you have, weather will dictate your boondocking longevity due to solar charging.  You can also schedule a night or 2 somewhere with electric to recharge, just in case.  Or, there is always a generator.

Maybe more solar and a good MPPT controller will also help.

And so far I love my ICECO 20 fridge / freezer.  25w periodically.  Use as aux fridge in back of vehicle, or rip out Norcold and put in the GeoMars fridge drawer mod.
