Hi, I have the black trim on my T@B and it's quite dull. Has anyone found a product you can apply to it to take away that dull appearance? I think my dad even tried using car wax on it but it didnt help.
Which black trim? I have tried similar back to black on plastic mirrors, bumper trim, etc., More than one brand and they all have been a few months max for me. The one @AirBoss linked may be better. Once the UV zaps the life from plastic it is hard to bring back and make it look good and last. A UV protection like 303 might be best bet when new to keep it looking good, but don't know if it is good at restoring?
It's all the black trim on the back, all around the whole camper, and the fenders and the front storage tank etc. I have some 303. I will try that tomorrow. I had only been using that inside my cars. It never looked good even the day it arrived on the truck from new camp.
303 works really well if you start when it's in relatively good condition, as you indicated. Restoring is another matter. Cant say for 100% it'll work on all black trim but it did work well on my application and seems to be a bit more permanent than other treatments.
Oh, OK, I thought maybe just the door latch and small pieces. All the plastic trim is going to be a big chore and is actually a different kind of plastic than the bumper trim restoring products are made for, it might work, but try a small area first.
Actually, if you are referring to the edge and corner hard ABS plastic trim around the TaB, a good polishing wax, with a cleaner in it works, I used a 3M Marine Fiberglass Cleaner Wax on our Tab trim (Blue) that was looking tired, shined it right up. A good washing first, let it dry, then use the cleaner wax. cheers

Yes, but Black Wow is for rubber and matte finish plastic type trim bits, like fender flairs on some SUVs and trucks. Not sure how it would work on a smooth glossy surface like the TaB trim.

Oh I see! Thanks for clarifying that. I was thinking I was going to try the 3M product first since because a cleaner/wax seems like what i was looking for rather than a product you have to reapply.
I used this with some microfiber cloths on some of my black trim that had microscratches and they buffed out and it looks great now. Beforehand it looked dull compared to some of the other trim.
About the stuff that @AirBoss suggested--it says the surface must be textured, which the trim on the tabs fenders, back "bumper" etc are not, so it seems like something that is a cleaner/polish/wax would be the best bet to take off oxidation and bring back some of the color, IMHO--I have seen some other good comments made about the products that @ecstatic mentions.
I use F11 top coat on my cars and tab 400. It does a really nice job on all surfaces, including acrylic windows, rubber, plastic and painted surfaces. It gives the deepest shine on my Ranger and MX5 and it is incredibly easy to apply.
I had a black '94 Mustang where the exterior trim, lights and dash were pretty faded and dull. Tried all the usual applications, Meguiars, Back to Black, 2000, etc. All worked for a while, but quickly (within a couple of months, maybe sooner with washing) faded again. The longest lasting, easiest to apply, stuff that I found was Wipe-New. It lasted up to 6 months on the tail lights and plastic trim. Best for hard surfaces, since it leaves a thin film of whatever polymer it's made of. As others have suggested, I would recommend using it on a small area first and check the results over time. Honestly, I was amazed how well it worked on really badly faded surfaces.
