Grills, Griddles and Stoves Compatible with the Quick Connect Propane Port on 2021 T@Bs
nbrandt
Member Posts: 65
In one month we are getting a new T@B 320 CS-S in one month (trading down from a T@B 400 - a story unto itself).
The new T@B 320 CS-S comes with a low pressure propane port that is available at the back of the trailer beneath the Microwave and Fridge. It has a quick attach connection with an on/off valve at the port.
These have been available on Popup campers for quite some time, but I have no experience with one. I'm not sure what the "low pressure part" means. I assume that this kind of thing would be used for a grill, gas lantern, or additional stove. Does anyone have experiences? Hose types?
Thanks for sharing what you can.

@nbrandt - this should help: https://www.everything-about-rving.com/how-do-i-use-the-propane-quick-connect-connection-on-my-rv.html
The hose connections are different because you don’t want to use the regulator on the appliance (grill) as the provided gas pressure is already down regulated.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio -
SharonThank you for directing me to that post. It is a good video.I have been using a propane tree already and carried an extra smaller tank. The tree lets me hook up three appliances at once (stove, BBQ and lantern) to the one portable tank using the hoses supplied with the appliances. This new connection would be handy but it appears I would have to take the regulator out of my appliances, buy a new hose and perhaps different connectors. I think for the moment I am going to stick with my system because I already have everything I need - but down the road I can see gravitating to that connection. Thanks for the timely answer.nbrandt2021 T@B 320 CS-S2015 Tundra 2WD 4.6

I think the LPG port at the rear is probably more useful for the CSS and TaG models since it is at the galley. It means you don’t need to carry a second tank, but, yes, you need to alter anything that you connect.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

I am planning on getting the right adapter and hose and using it with my Coleman grill. Goodbye small canisters!

You will have to delete the regulator on your grill/stove, right?JT4 said:This is what I bought. Correct Jenn. I need to make sure I do not have a second regulator on my device. I have seen plenty of camp stoves without one. That is why that hose is quick release to small propane bottle connection as no regulator is needed for items using small propane bottles. I intend to take the regulator off my propane fire pit as well so I can use that as well.
-
I am still exploring this, but it appears that appliances with the flame control built into the regulator can not be used with the quick connect system. I guess the popular Blackstone griddle/grill has the regulator separate from the flame control and is compatible with a quick connect system.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

I have this setup with my Cabela's grill. I removed the regulator and put the correct nipple to fit the low pressure hose on the back of my 2021 T@B 320. It works but I get a ton of black smoke which makes me think the grill isn't mixing in any oxygen. Is there something else I need for this setup?2021 T@B 400 BD

I have the Camp Chef Ranger two burner propane stove. Great output when hooked up to a propane tank. Some people really complain about this stove (see Amazon comments) that the flame isn't blue, or smokey. There is actually an adjustment of the amount of oxygen in form of a little lever on the underside of the stove. If the stove isn't functioning properly, it lets me adjust the amount oxygen and you can get that pure blue flame. I don't know if your Cabela grill can do that, but I think you are on to something - the problem is in the mix. I am eager to try this low volume hose on this stove once my camper gets delivered, hoping that I can use it as an additional camp stove. I know that may sound like overkill, but the burners on this stove are hard to beat.nbrandt

Weber Q series portable grills can be converted using the hoses referenced above by JT4. Yes, you need to take the regulator off. I just converted mine and it works great .2021 320 S Boondock / 2018 Toyota 4Runner / NE Ohio

+1 for this...mrdeepfryguy said:Weber Q series portable grills can be converted using the hoses referenced above by JT4. Yes, you need to take the regulator off. I just converted mine and it works great .
I did the same thing...You need to unscrew the existing regulator from the grill itself, and then attach the quick connect adapter.
From there, you just snap the gas hose on to the back of the T@B and onto the grill.
I have two hoses now, as I bought a 12' hose initially, then later found they made them in 24' lengths as well.
With the 24' length hose, I no longer feel like I'm restricted in where I can setup the grill.

I picked up a Blackstone and an adapter with a hose. It worked great. I will be making a Yotube video on this in the very near future!

No problem for my application which is a Weber Q 1200 grill. I have a Coleman 3-burner Roadtrip. Got a hose, no regulator, to use with the propane line on my 320 Boondock. Works okay but the grill doesn’t get as hot as with the green cans. Both valves on gas line wide open. Ideas?2021 320 S BoondockSubaru Outback XT and Honda PassportDes Moines, IOWA!

Thank you Sharon, but I have a different Roadtrip that has a direct connector---no regulator--- for a canister and the hose that I have. So that's a good thing. For me. Mechanical I am not. I think its a patience issue, I've just discovered.I hooked up the grill and hose after reading your post and found the two sources of propane must have a different outflow---and I'm not even sure that's a word. With the canister it heats super fast. Not so fast with the hose. It gets to temperature but it just takes a bit longer. Is that possible?2021 320 S BoondockSubaru Outback XT and Honda PassportDes Moines, IOWA!

Do a Google search for your Coleman Roadtrip model followed by low pressure propane. You may find a conversion kit.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

Just read this on the link below. Sounds like an easy way to determine if your grill will work with the low pressure propane port. “Get a grill that does NOT use the small 1 lb portable bottles, i.e. requires an external regulator.”

With you having the 2021... It has the propane hook up at the back.. we're having to replace our current bbq as it already has a regulator on it, thankfully after 12 years it has died..we were told only the blackstone or the napoleon were the only ones on the market without a regulator..Former 2017 T@G Max XL

On many grills, you can remove the regulator and replace it with a low pressure quick connect (as equipped on the 2021 T@B 400). That is what I've done on a new Weber Q and I use it with the rear mounted quick connect on my 2021 400. Works great, and with a 24' quick connect hose, It's very flexible on grill placement.ontheroad said:With you having the 2021... The Weber Q 1200...the regulator that comes factory installed can be simply un-installed, replaced by a quick connect adapter. Very easy. The T@B 400's auxiliary propane connection is already regulated (low pressure), so there is no need for one on the grill.ontheroad said:@ChrisFix...which "Q"?...
