what are the possible uses of the rack system on the boondock? how much weight will it hold? makes me nervous to think about putting anything but wetsuits and towels up there to dry.

The Yakima rack?  It will hold a tire.  Others strap camp chairs or mount sewer hose containers.  70# limit.

I ended up taking my bars off as they caused a lot of water to be trapped on the roof with the cover on after a rain. I haven't found a good enough use yet to put them back. Good luck!

Hi there.

I just put on a Yakima Load Warrior and it's primarily going to be used to haul around the Rhino waste tank. The 21 gal we got fits up there rather well. Note, you will need a ladder and some decent strength to get it up there as it is high.

I've been trying to come up w/ a good use for the rack, just realized that my dark day / sun wrong place solar panels can be secured up there for transport and if I flip one facing out I'll have a collector on both ends of the trailer or 1or 2 portable if needed. Now to come up with a secure mount but easy to release for remote use... Anybody have a picture of a clean way to do this?

This thread has a really cool mod that mounted a panel on the rack, but also showed how to install the rack.  Very impressive.  Look down in the thread to page 2 and 3 and a couple other owners installed panels on existing racks and they showed their work.

Can you please tell me which type of bicycle rail/holder you are attaching to your Yakima Rack?

I use two of the Yakima “forklift” mounts; one on each side.
