The Alde water chamber heats by default. Anytime the Alde is turned on, that chamber will heat. Keep in mind, only using 1 kw will limit the achieved temp and very cold temps may require 2 kw and addition of propane
If there is water in the Alde tank, the Alde will always heat the water. No matter what you think that little triangle means, or what you thin the manual says, moving that "slider" in the triangle to make the triangle "blank" just makes the triangle blank. It does not "turn the water off".
The Alde manuals are badly written, and appear never to be edited for clarity. For hot water, the manual contradicts itself or is not clear in several places about water.
In Section 2.4 of the Alde 3020 manual, the paragraph says "Hot water is always available.....".
Then, in Section 2.5, it immediately confuses the issue or contradicts itself by talking about the three positions of the "hot water slider". "When Hot Water is Not Needed", it says, make the little slider "blank". Whether you "need" hot water is beside the point, as you found. "Hot water is always available" is the key phrase from section 2.4.
The key to controlling the hot water temperature without heating up the cabin is to either: turn the "Required Temperature" of the Alde to a setting below the ambient temperature inside the trailer. Set the "slider" to the middle position. The glycol pump (which sends heat around the trailer when the glycol is warmed) is controlled by the Alde's thermostat. You can get "decently" hot water without heating up the trailer.
If you want "Extra Hot Water": Set the slider to the "full triangle" position. The Alde glycol pump will shut off for 30 minutes, no matter what the "required temp" is. The manual says the hot water temperature will be "boosted" to 149 degrees. In my 3010, this is always my preferred setting for hot water. On propane, at least, it works pretty quickly for me. (This setting is discussed in paragraph 3 of Section 2.5 of the manual.
And, reading this again tonight, the phrase "Extra Hot Water". Does this mean the water is "Extra Hot?" I certainly don't get "Extra Water". Another Alde mystery!
