Proper fuse for Alde from Dorsey at Truma

I just talked to Truma, the new Alde rep in the USA. He asked me to tell the forum that the correct fuse for the Alde is not the 3.15 fast fuse, but rather it is a 10 amp slow fuse.

What year is your trailer, and what Alde?

I have a 2015 320 T@B Outback. I'm not sure which Alde. I talked to Dorsey at Truma, and he didn't ask me that question.

My Alde is Model #: 30109300

OK, it’s a 3010 model, that is what Thomas wanted to know.
Thanks for the fuse info.

In the 3010, there are two fuses. In all the many discussions of the Alde fuses, a 10 amp fuse was never mentioned. A 5 amp fuse, yes. So....the rep said a "10 amp fuse" for both Alde fuses?Something doesn't seem to add up here.

That is what Dorsey told me. I even called him back to double check. Also, he said to use the slow fuse. I don't know much about electrical, so I'm just going on what I heard. Maybe it would be a good idea for an expert to chime in or call Dorsey to have a proper discussion on the issue.

Before I triple the amp fuse that protects an expensive system I’d like to see that in print from Alde.

@Parlando - the Alde has a diagram that clearly notes the required fuse. Here is the newer 3020 model that still requires the 3.15 A slow blow:

Thanks Sharon. I'm not knowledgeable about electrical, but it sounds like there is a disconnect here. I think the 3.15 would definitely be safer until proven otherwise.

I called Dorsey at Truma today and he is confident that the 10 A slow blow is correct. He asked me to post it again and give his telephone number if anyone has questions. I'd be glad for someone knowledgeable to give him a call and clear the question up. Since I'm not an electrical guy, it would be good for the matter to be discussed by those who are. Here is Dorsey's number: 855 558-7862. I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

I think Dorsey is referring to the Truma unit, not the Alde. The Truma takes the 10

Hi Mona, That sounds like a good theory. I'm not sure. As I've said before, this is outside of my expertise, and I'd like for someone with more knowledge to call Dorsey at Truma. I specifically asked about the glass fuses on the Alde unit itself, and verified that by calling back twice. But if one of our electrical gurus could call Dorsey and have a conversation it could help clear up the conclusion.

Any electrical gurus want to call Dorsey and clear this question up? 855-588-7862. I’ve called three times now, but we could use an electricians view to decipher the situation. I did specify that I was asking about the two glass fuses on top of the ALDE. I don’t understand why the ALDE diagram would have a different requirement than Truma is advising.

I called too late in the day. I sent an email.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

@Parlando
I just spoke with customer service at Truma/Alde. They confirmed that the correct fuse for the Alde’s is the 3.15 A slow blow. They indicated that the reported 10 A fuse was an error and is correct for the Truma Combi unit as suspected above.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio -
Thank you Sharon for following up on this. As I said I had asked them three times. Glad you followed up one more time.
