Black Steaks on White Tabs but not on Gray Tabs

Why do the white sided T@bs get white steaks but the gray sided ones do not? My friend has a white one I have gray one and I've had three gray T@bs and never had a single streak on any of them. Her streaks come right back after she cleans them off.

I get some streaking after a good rain on the side of our gray TaB, but it washes right off.  A little marine cleaner/wax keeps them from coming back.
