Caulking ok?

Greetings!
We have had an unusually wet spring in the PNW, and I have noticed a lot of water, evergreen needles, etc running down the back of our new to us TAB 400 and disappearing under the gray "bumper" and not draining out below. Can anyone think of a reason why I should not run a bead of caulk to seal the gap, so water and needles run over the top of this bumper/trim? Thanks in advance.

I've always hated how debris goes under there and you can't get to it. That sounds like a good idea. I doubt it will stay attached though with all the bouncing around that area gets.

A better solution is to get a slitted bit of rubber weather stripping and wedge it in place along the top.  It will keep the leaves and debris out.  Leave the sides open to allow any water to drain out.  The debris already in there can be blown out fairly easy.
